A beautifully crafted collection for rehabilitation

June 11, 2015

Vigour, design by  Pauline Van Dongen, is a Product Service System that enables geriatric patients, physiotherapists and family to gain more insight in the exercises and progress of a rehabilitation process. A knitted cardigan with integrated stretch sensors monitors the movements of the upper body, and communicates this data to the service provider.

The project is a great example of blending technology with artisanship in a beautifully executed lifestyle good aimed at improving people's lives.

Watch the evocative video below that explains the making and wearing of Vigour.

Read more about the project here.

Vigour is a Product Service System that enables geriatric patients, physiotherapists and family to gain more insight in the exercises and progress of a rehabilitation process. A knitted cardigan with integrated stretch sensors monitors the movements of the upper body, and communicates this data to the service provider. The garment can be worn all day and thereby gather data, and can be worn when executing rehabilitation exercises. An iPad application uses this data to give direct feedback to the wearer and physiotherapist by making sound and visualising progress. More information: www.thisisvigour.com
